Greening Sri Lanka Continues

Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Sri Lanka operations, corporate social responsibility project, take them to ‘Mahausakande.’

Initially managed by the Ellawela Trust the ‘Mahausakanade’ project is now partnered by HSBC and will involve the reforestation of 16 hectares of land in Kiriella bordering a protected rain forest –‘Bambaragala Mookalana.’ The seed fall from the forest reserve has stimulated the growth of forest species among the rubber trees and the goal of planting 10,000 indigenous species continues with the sponsorship of HSBC who will hire a scientific team for the project and conduct awareness programmes for 24 schools.
