Sri Lanka’s first theme hotel named among World’s Best

The UK’s largest selling Sunday newspaper the Sunday Times featured ‘The Tea Factory’ in its Travel section this month bringing credit to Sri Lanka. The first tea factory to be converted to a boutique hotel earning it a UNESCO Pacific Heritage Merit Award in 2001 for “The impressive conversion of a dilapidated tea factory in to a luxury hotel complex” An architectural master piece the building earned the South Asian Architecture Award in 1995 and in 2000 was recognised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors for “restoration while maintaining its original façade.”
